I love orchids and have had many through the years. Mine didn't survive my move to New York almost seven years ago, but my homegirl Sydney received a stunning specimen recently. She shared these beautiful photographs of it so we can all enjoy it's splendor.

Husbands and Wives

I re-watched one of my favorite classic Woody Allen films a couple of nights ago, and as always, was inspired, intrigued, and satiated by the experience. Husbands and Wives is up there on my list along with Annie Hall, Hannah and Her Sisters and Manhattan. So visually stimulating, so smart, witty and hilarious. And the interior shots are my favorites. The sets, which I always heard were real homes, are so layered and personal. Real New York homes that I WISH I could sneak in to.

Her name was Lily and she was my best friend. I told my friend Anthony about her last night, and missed her sweet coo.

Green Guide

My siblings (step, half and in between) and I try to all get together when we are home for the holidays. A few times, we have gathered rubber gloves and gone on a "clean up". Fun, easy, and a great way to keep your neighborhood litter-free.


With Earth Day just around the corner, you might be feeling the urge to up the ante on your "greenness". If so, I definitely recommend organizing a clean up, or check out the bottom of the right column of this blog in the Green Guide for other ideas. I do my best to share earth friendly websites, projects and resources with my readers and am always open to suggestions as well. If you have green tips to share, please do so by leaving it in a comment below!

My Favorite Quote

Grey Gardens 2.0

Normally I shy away from re-makes of favorites or classic films, as they often pale in comparison. But the new HBO portrayal of the enigmatic Edies of Grey Gardens that airs on April 18th looks haunting and fascinating.



Drew Barrymore's vocal work is shockingly accurate and Jessica Lange is captivating as always. I am now counting down the days until we return to Long Island, and pear into the doors of a dilapidated house.

In Martha's Prop Room, aka HEAVEN!

L-Shaped Desk

My husband and I run his indie record label Handstand, my design company Enderby, and keep what we need for Decor It Yourself and Olde Ghost all from one room. So we need the space to be well-organized, multi-faceted, inspiring, and have a good energy flow.



Before, our computer desk was in a corner facing a wall with a gaggle of cords and wires. It felt cramped and cluttered.



Now, our desk faces the windows so you have lovely view while working. Will re-wired everything to be much more stream-lined and clean.



We have the Enderby shelves to the left and the records to the right.



The desk has a huge surface area for everything we need to work comfortably, and room for pieces that create an inspiring aesthetic.



The vintage L-shaped desk we got off of Cragslist for $100 makes it possible to have the computer and sewing machine out and ready for use at any time.



This office re-vamp has already proven to garner more productivity and a more enjoyable work day.

Plant Window Shelves

We have so many plants, and I am always cultivating and planting more. In my opinion, the more greenery the better. But I am literally running out of places for my potted plants. I want to add plant shelves in front of the windows in our office and this is how I have always pictured them. Minus the kid.
