art deco
![]()
Art Deco is one of my favorite design genres.
Named after the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes (International Exposition of Modern Industrial and Decorative Arts), which was at the World's fair in Paris, France in 1925.

My aesthetic eye is often drawn to the 20's and 30's as a time period, with an affinity for the French designers and modern lines.

Stretched-Canvas Art

One of my many on-going searches is for a piece of 1970's MOD stretched-canvas piece.
Inspired by this amazing photograph of my mom, Sally, in an early apartment with my dad. Mid-70's, clearly. I have yet to locate an exact replica, but find similar earth-tones in several Scandinavian prints.
This book cover looks like it could be very close to the bottom part of the print hanging above my mom.
This Etsy shop has a few really cool mid-70's stretched-canvas pieces by an obscure artist, Robert Van Allen.
The large forest with setting sun and onion prints are my favorite.
I totally dig them all, and can see each of them somewhere. They are rad.

Le Train Bleu
Bi La Li Cocoon Coat at is a wearable work of art. I first I found this delicious shop when looking up who made my perfect mustard suede boots, and have adored Le Train Bleu ever since. With pieces like this Miss Golightly vest, you can see why.
This is the boutique for simple, classic dresses that will be forever pieces.

Like this lovely Alice Spring Dress.

Making black and white anything but simple with their fresh frocks, Le Train Bleu carries French designs that give a Parisian feel.
This Heidi Traveling Dress, while being way-too-expensive than what my budget can afford at the moment, would be a great forever piece. Simple, yet classic, wit a slight vintage-mod feel, this silk-lined perfect black dress would be an invenstment in your wardrobe.
The three pairs of shoes this fantastic place has provided my toes with.

The mural of the story
Will and I are looking for a vintage or 1970's-inspired wall mural. We'd ideally love a retro forest print to cover an entire wall in the bedroom. We want either an elegant forest print wallpaper from one of my fav U.K. stores Graham & Green, or a really great digital wall mural. When researching on This Next, you'll never guess where I found a cool mural and a new line of wall paper.

Our original imspiration came from one of our fav neighborhood bars, the crocodile Lounge. They have this great vintage beach scene over-taking an entire section of the relaxed back room.
You really feel like you can hear the surf, feel the sand, and are just waiting for your next margarita.
We thought it would take years to track down an affordable wall mural in the style we want. Who knew that soon enough Target's previously pretty pathetic wallpaper selection just stepped it up a major notch with these rad Digital Wall Murals!
AND Graham & Brown products!

Re-Claimed NEST

Wood Letters made out of salvaged pieces from bygone railroad tracks, found at Anthropologie. Handcrafted into the letters of the alphabet to spell out your favorite word, initials or company name. Enderby was a bit too long.
You can also see the Blik bird silhouettes gracing our walls.

Vinyl is the New Stencil-Part 2

These fresh, green, vinyl wall decals look so good I want to take a bite out of one.

The yummy apples, berries and more delicious treats are in Groove Designs Studio's adorable shop on the one and only Etsy.
I purchased the fly bird vinyl stickers for the Enderby studio in grey. They are fantastic.
Rest Your Tuckus

These fantastically retro modern mustard chairs would be the perfect match to my fantastic mustard suede wedge boots. Totally worth the several hundred dollars to complete my ensemble.
You can find the mustard seating implements and this great mod, comfy turquoise chair at Contemporary Furniture.
As long as they are comfortable, I really dig these modern designs. This great black chair looks comfortable and beautiful.
And how neato is this? I love lucite furniture. So classic, '30's boudoir.
I saw this rad rump rester on Crib Candy. Crib Candy is like a Toys 'R Us for design geeks. I found this amazing chair by Jack Rodgers Hopkins on there among other gems in home decor.
Woah. This piece is so rare and pretty rad. It looks as if you would be sitting inside a tree.
